Update on State of the Nation and Reopening

Many of you may have questions regarding Westgate’s response to what is currently happening across our nation.  Thank you for bearing with us as we think about how to respond.  We do know that this week’s planned sermon will be changed and we will call for a special time of prayer on Sunday evening.

On Tuesday morning Travis and I were each moved to postpone our study in John in order to present a sermon that we believe reflects the Lord’s heart about what has been happening in the cities of our country.  We encourage you to pray for this message and to let the Holy Spirit apply God’s Word to our lives.  The Sermon is entitled, “What’s Wrong with America?” and will come from Micah 6:6-8.  While our Sunday, Tuesday morning and home group prayer times have included prayer for our nation, we intend to hold a special prayer service this Sunday evening.  We are still in a planning phase.  We are seeking to unite with other churches on short notice and are wondering whether this prayer time should be virtual or in person.  We will keep you informed and we encourage you to set aside Sunday 6:30 pm for this gathering.

You have also been patiently waiting to hear about our reopening, which has been targeted for June 21st.  We are monitoring the reopening of other churches and any change in Massachusetts regulations since this information may influence our reopening plans.  Thank you for responding to the reopening survey, which currently shows that 73 people are ready to return and 113 prefer to wait.  We can safely accommodate up to 100 people which is 25% of our sanctuary capacity. The Reopening Task Force meets again tonight and we will email you the reopening policy and procedures afterwards.

For Christ’s glory,

Pastor Bruce
