Missions

"Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation . . ." (Revelation 5:9)

Our vision and goal for missions at Westgate Church is to aggressively carry out the command of Christ's Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  Therefore, we view missions as an essential ministry of our church and our individual members. We are committed to mobilizing our own resources (prayer, people, and finances) for the objective of reaching men and women from every nation and people group for Christ.

Westgate Church presently supports twenty-two missionaries and eight mission agencies, and just over half of our missionaries have been regular attenders of our congregation. Two-thirds of Westgate missionaries presently serve overseas and one-third are serving in the USA.

Prayer is a major emphasis of our mission partnerships (Colossians 4:2-3). Our desire is for each missionary or ministry to be adopted by an family, home fellowship, Bible study, or Missions Board member for prayer and encouragement. In addition, the Missions Board begins each monthly board meeting with prayer for each of our missionaries and ministries. We also produce a prayer guide each month for use at home and church prayer meetings.

Westgate Church hosts an annual eight-day Missions Conference during October where guest speakers and missionaries participate in a variety of classes, services, and meetings. Each summer a team of high school students and adults participate in our youth missions trip.
