New Adult Classes on Sunday Morning

This Sunday, January 8, we begin two new adult Sunday School classes at Westgate (9:30 am):

Parenting: Leadership from Love

Room 301 | Teacher: Pastor Bruce Daggett

God didn’t write a handbook on parenting, but he offers us parenting principles and a parental model. This class will lay out a foundation of the biblical principles of authoritative, nurturing parenting and build on it in practical ways. The course will reference Scripture, current research, and Christian parenting books. It will engage the class members through video teaching and examples as well as through classroom discussions where members can share their parental knowledge, experience, and questions.

We invite you to join us in this learning enterprise. Coffee and goodies provided.

The Heart of the Reformation

Room 302 | Teachers: Mark Bauer, Raudo Garcia, Pastor Brandon Levering, Travis Vaclavik, & Navin Williams

2017 marks 500 years since Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the Wittenberg Door and unintentionally triggered one of the most important seasons of spiritual renewal in the history of the church.

As Westgate stands in that Protestant heritage, this is a good occasion for us to stop and consider why the Reformation was necessary, the biblical basis for the core convictions it produced, the historical figures through whom it unfolded, and how it ought to continue to impact us today.

  • Jan. 8: Why the Reformation Was Necessary
  • Jan. 15: Martin Luther
  • Jan. 22: Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone)
  • Jan. 29: Solus Christus (Christ Alone)
  • Feb. 5: Ulrich Zwingli
  • Feb. 12: Sola Gratia (Grace Alone)
  • Feb. 19: John Calvin
  • Feb. 26: Sola Fide (Faith Alone)
  • Mar. 5: Thomas Cranmer
  • Mar. 12: Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone)
  • Mar. 19: The EFCA in the Protestant Tradition
  • Mar. 26: Ecclesia Reformata, Semper Reformanda (The Church Reformed, Always Reforming)
